Specializations · Swedish and Russian
General courses stop at general language. Glossa's twelve specializations continue into the vocabulary of your profession: about 500 terms per field, taught with their collocations and grammar, in readings that look like real contracts, reports, news and papers. Each field has nine modules in three stages that open alongside the main course.
Example, Law in Swedish: Law in everyday terms · Police and crime · Documents and agreements → Courts and procedure · Contracts · Criminal law → Legal drafting · Corporate and commercial law · Constitutional and EU law.
Specializations are part of Premium.
Exercises
Recognising a word is not the same as producing it, and reading is not the same as listening. Each module mixes exercise types so you practise every skill, and every answer gets factual feedback: what was right, what was wrong and why.
Letters to sounds, including the ones that look English but are not. How the Russian course teaches Cyrillic.
Words to translations, singulars to plurals, beginnings to endings.
A meaning, a form or a word in context, with the reason shown after you answer.
Fill in a whole conjugation or declension, checked cell by cell.
Short explanations inside an exercise set, right where a rule starts to matter.
Build the sentence from tiles. The extra tiles are wrong cases and prepositions, not random words.
Fill each gap with the right form of the word given.
Type a translation in either direction. Several wordings are accepted, and AI checks an answer the course did not list.
Texts at your level with questions. Every word can be tapped, and a parallel translation is there if you need it.
A dialogue or text read aloud, with the text hidden until you have answered.
Hear a word or sentence and pick what was said, down to where the stress falls.
Type what you hear, then see your answer compared with the original word by word.
Read a word or sentence aloud. A speech-assessment engine scores accuracy, fluency and completeness and marks each word; AI turns the scores into concrete advice on the sounds to fix. Replay your recording next to the reference.
Write to a prompt that names the structures and vocabulary to use. AI evaluates it against a rubric with inline corrections, each explained and linked to the grammar behind it. Revise and resubmit; every version is kept.
Around the lessons
Glossa explains the language instead of drilling you blindly. When something is unclear, the explanation is one tap away.
Tap any word in a lesson, exercise, text or AI answer for its meanings, full table of forms, examples, audio and the grammar it belongs to.
Words, example sentences, listening texts and pronunciation exercises all come with audio in natural-sounding neural voices.
One rule per topic, with real examples and translations, searchable and linked both ways with the lessons that teach it.
A tutor that knows your course and level. Ask it to explain a sentence from a text or a mistake from your exercises, and its answers stay tappable word by word.
Words from your lessons are collected for spaced repetition, first from the language into English and then, once you know them, the other way. The practice page counts the words you recognise reliably and places them against research-based vocabulary sizes for each CEFR level.
Example
1,840 Swedish words you know reliably
Your vocabulary is at A2 level. 160 more words to B1.
How Glossa is built
Glossa is for adults who want to understand a language, not to keep a counter going. There are two progress figures: how much of the course you have completed, and how many words you know against the research estimates for each level. Both are stated as facts.
Grading, feedback and explanations from AI and the speech engine can be wrong. Every exercise, word and answer has a Report a problem link, and reports are reviewed.
